The sheep of the Lord followed Him in tribulation and persecution and shame, in hunger and thirst, in infirmity and temptations and in all other ways; and for these things they have received everlasting life from the Lord. Wherefore it is a great shame for us, the servants of God, that, whereas the Saints have practised works, we should expect to receive honor and glory for reading and preaching the same.” (Admonitions of St. Francis, Admonition Nr. 6) I think all of us have been touched by the drama that took place in Haiti, and we decided that we wanted to help the best we could to help ease the suffering and pain. At the same time we understood that we would have to combine spiritual and material efforts...
We decided therefore to combine works and prayer...we were to have an Italian Dinner, organized by Br. Paul, who also was the main cook. At the same time we began to pray the Office of the dead each Friday, in honour of our deceased haitian brothers and sisters.
Our fundraiser was a full success and the hall of St. Theresa’s Parish was sold out, with more than 200 people attending. We raised a considerable amount of money, that will go to Development and Peace.
We know that every good thing has to be done in Christ and brought to completion not only by human hands, but by the will of God. Therefore we continue to entrust Haiti and its suffering into the mercy of God...
